Our usual performance is about 30 minutes, and we need a minimum of 10 minutes setup and teardown. Realicide Youth Records CD’s, vinyl, patches, and anything else we can manage to bring will be available at every show. We will also bring a SCREEN to screenprint peoples’ shirts for free whenever possible, as has been practiced in the US, CA, AU, NZ the past year… Bring a shirt and if there is a place to print we will do it… The screen we are bringing = HERE.

Equipment requirements…

Realicide = 1 table of electronic instruments + 2 vocal mics. Strong, reliable equipment and sound is necessary for the performance to occur. Please contact us if this information seems confusing.

IMPORTANT: PA system. Stereo direct line (left + right) instrument cables (1/4”) or RCA cables –and– 2 loud vocal microphones. Any system that can offer a LOUD sound with good balance of high / mid / low. This is extremely important to explain for our tours outside the US, as we prefer to bring our own PA and amps on tour, but it is not possible overseas. A familiar and raw but controlled sound is what makes the Realicide performance POSSIBLE in its most proper sense. A quieter, or bass-heavy sound preferred by many  DJ’s will yield a weak and unfocused set for us. If you are accustomed to preparing live sound for electronic music, keep in mind Realicide is a lot more linked to hardcore punk and industrial than many variations of orthodox hardcore electronic music.

We need 2 vocal microphones with long cables, which should be easily heard during the music, not buried. We would like to play our music as loud as possible with the lyrics still audible over it all.

If there are multiple PA systems available, we would be interested in running separate lines from the Realicide mixer into them to combine everything. Sound systems we are accustomed to setting up here at home have been compared to old Jamaican Dancehall systems, with several PA’s and amps combined. This would be great in any situation that has the equipment for it…

Guitar amps. The louder the better. These would be fed their own direct lines from the Realicide mixer as well. Guitar amps help a LOT when the main PA is something cleaner or more delicate in its sound. Guitar amps are designed to be fed a hot signal usually, and when combined with the PA gear they really help complete things. Maybe local bands could lend an amp or 2 for the set?

TABLE. Minimum size = 1.25 m x .75 m, anything this size or larger (and stable!) at waist level or higher will work. During tours in the US, we always bring a table, so familiarity of the setup every night is a huge help though we cannot bring our table overseas. The setup is NOT just a laptop. Realicide table = mixer, Korg ES-1 drum machine, 4-track tape deck + a dozen cassettes, laptop computer, midi controller.

Transportation and financial costs…

The cost of flying from the US makes this tour very financially strenuous. Any help securing gigs to recover the money being fronted for flights is a huge help to us and ultimately makes this tour a lot more possible. We are completely in favor of renegade / benefit shows for local organizations tied to constructive modes of Anarchism and anything else socially positive, but again, any help recovering the money fronted for the international flights will simply help us SURVIVE. For anybody who is less familiar with Realicide – this project is not a casual hobby for the people involved. We often have no other employment in the US; it is our livelihood – but in turn all we use money for in the US is food, very cheap housing sometimes,  transportation on tour, and pressing records periodically.

For transportation we will most likely need to find the most affordable rental car possible for the European dates; another cost to the tour but inevitable. In the UK we will probably need to use flights or trains, but for our tours the less flying the better. We have tried to book as many gigs as possible, so a decent car with GPS will be the best way to keep moving. Any advice and help in sorting out transportation would be greatly appreciated. If there is a vehicle or even sound gear we could rent from an independent source (artists or collectives, etc.) please feel welcome to contact us about it.

Local supporting bands and artists…

Realicide has been making increasingly urgent attempts during the US tours to meet any people who are dedicated to socially constructive ideas – including values of compassionate Anarchism and legitimate Equality, non-violence and resistance to all things corrupted by hate and abuse. We don’t want to make this statement awkward, but it needs to be mentioned. This music is certainly very abrasive, noisy, critical, etc. but it is meant to convey a sense of social urgency and NOT violence or hate. The primary objective in meeting local artists is to find the people who are doing what they do for similar reasons. The style or aesthetic is not as important as a positive message. Self-depreciating and bigoted music is not of any interest to this crew, even if it shares similarities in some sort of abrasive aesthetic. We are not a nihilistic group.

This being stated, there are types of music we really enjoy and would be very excited to see in Europe. Punk, hiphop, most variations of intense electronic music, whatever is exciting + open to what we’ll be bringing + shares some of the same values.

It is our preference when on tour to NOT play first or last in the order of bands. We are coming from far away and would like to maximize the chance to show as many people as possible what we do.

Venues and activities…

As mentioned above, the financial strain of this tour insists that any venues available which could recover travel costs should be considered. But we are very aware that often the gigs that pay better are NOT always the most exciting. If there is a chance to secure a well-paid gig to help us stay alive through the tour, that’s great! Otherwise we are very interested in shows that could happen at peoples’ homes, warehouses, renegade parties, DIY spaces of any kind… Anywhere people feel comfortable talking to eachother and hearing new music – that is where we’d like to be.

Aside from the venues, we would be really interested to visit local record shops that might take our records, and especially any local infoshops or other places keen to progressive DIY activity. We would be interested in any available radio appearances, be it with live music, interviews, or DJ’ing. Whenever possible between shows, we really love to have small screenprinting parties which don’t require much besides a flat surface, somewhere to wash out the screen afterwards, and a few people who want their shirts printed! So even if you cannot help with a gig, maybe we could do that instead… get in touch!
